Ellesmere Community Vehicle Trust
The Ellesmere Community Vehicle Trust (ECVT) was set up in 2012 in response to the need for transport in the Ellesmere area particularly to Christchurch and Ashburton, as there is no public transport in our district.
The trust operates a community minibus, and a small community car. Both vehicles are driven by volunteers.
The ECVT covers the area of Selwyn District between the Selwyn River/Waikirikiri and Rakaia River, some distance west of State Highway One, and to the coast in the east. Most of the trips leave from the towns of Leeston and Southbridge to a wide range of destinations.
There are regular day trips and movie trips on alternate weeks, and the car is used most days for appointments, treatments etc to Christchurch, Ashburton, Rolleston and Lincoln. MiniBus is available for groups to any destination, with an approved driver.
